Projections

About projections.

It’s been one week of breastfeeding support. It’s the craziest thing I’ve seen in a really long time. Mean and aggressive comments go towards moms who breastfeed their babies. Also from women, including moms.

It seems to be one of those topics you can’t just pass by quietly.

It’s gotten to the point where two-year-olds (boys) were accused of looking around adult women in a ‘wrong way’. And in watching TV-programs that demonstrate women’s underwear with curiosity.

I’m wondering: who turned on Victoria’s Secret show instead of cartoons for a two-year-old?

The projection mechanism is such a powerful thing! You look at a baby but see a sexual maniac.😱

What’s that – guilt? Shame? Fear? Why does and adult woman see a threat in madonna with
a baby?

In fact, the baby itself as well as its feeding has nothing to do with all that. And no matter how much you yell and swear at moms that breastfeed their babies it’s not going to help.

But what will help then? Sort out your own feelings.

It was that I nursed my first two kids until they were one year old. Fedya is still on the breastfeeding. So now I get my regular dosage of ‘How come that you are still breastfeeding? Are you insane?’

And the kicker is – ‘But he already understands everything!’

Yes! And he got it ever since he was born. This might not be so obvious but even newborns do realise everything. They just can’t say anything like an adult would do. That’s why they seem silly.

Breastfeeding is not just about food. It is a very special connection that mom has with her child. The energy between them. Loyalty. Love.

I don’t see breastfeeding as non-freedom. I don’t even need that glass of wine or a bottle of bear which I’m supposedly deprived of.
